Patch v0.30d


This one's mainly important for the crash fix, but also makes some major balance improvements to a very difficult gamemode.

I'm hoping that this is the definitive version of v0.30 Spearhead, if you cut out thirty's zero, AWE 3D has got a nice ring to it!


Spearhead

  • Fixed the final crashing problem, crashes could occur when new waves spawned at higher wave counts
  • Wave balancing
    • The player's Altus and the carrier have a bit of hull strength restored with every wave cleared. This makes Hull Max increases more useful in early stages, and less mandatory to take in later stages
    • Frigates cannot appear before wave 15, which is always a battle against a lone frigate
    • Battlecruisers can no longer randomly spawn from wave 20 onwards
    • There is a higher threshold for when a new wave can spawn before a previous one is destroyed on higher intensity settings
  • Perk balancing
    • (Weapon) Capacity- perk value increased from 25->50%
  • Reduced frigate hull and shield strength
  • Reduced frigate turret firing range
  • Increased bomber mission importance, will be more likely to be targeted when pressing 'Target Objective' (O)
  • Added log notification for when a new wave contains a bomber: "Hostile bomber incoming"
  • Increased view distance from 9000->18000m


Strike

  • Fixed the mission being impossible to beat
    • With the dumbfire missile nerf of the Spearhead update, four Excavators were no longer enough to destroy a full health Chandrasekhar. Elements of the mission have been rearranged so that destroying it is possible again
  • Added engine sound to Excavator B.6
  • Fixed Chandrasekhar AI attempting to attack random Alti
  • Increased grade requirements, S rank of 5000+ requires landing a full barrage as the finishing blow against the Chandrasekhar

System changes

  • Score gain from landing hits now scales with the damage of that hit. Heavy gunpods and missiles will now be more effective at gaining score, regardless of whether you get to deal the final blow
  • Fixed shield and hull displays being red if shield or hull strength ever exceeded 133%
  • Reintroduced HUD flicker when taking hull damage
  • Added new default binding for 'Launch Ordnance', you can now launch missiles by default with MOUSE 4


Other

  • Changed speed particle effects, they are now thinner and more concentrated to the edge of the viewport
  • Fixed debug camera usage potentially rendering Freelook (C) broken
  • Reduced length of N-163 afterburner effect
  • Fixed binding menu not showing bind names in abbreviated form at first e.g. Left Button instead of LMB
